As a Product Designer
Overview
As a product designer at Cisco IoT, it was my duty as a designer to work with floor technicians to help create a product that helps monitor for sensor and device failures
The Problem
Network devices connect to thousands of sensors in factories. And these sensors can detect when machines are failing, or need attention. Floor technicians must be able to diagnose issues on the factory floor and resolve the issue as fast as possible.
$50,000 Per Minute
This is how much it costs if a machine were to malfunction on an assembly line.
Speed of Diagnostics
Tools are not as easy to use, since they mostly tailor to engineers instead of technicians.

Cost of Deployment
Deploying new routers and switches are expensive, and this can take up days or even weeks.
Instead of giving floor technicians straight up code, we want to provide a representation of where the error or connection occurs .
Another great enhancement that gathered good feedback was the physical representation of the router. Users can quickly figure out which port connection went out.
